A Level Computer Science – Eduqas

A Level Computer Science – Eduqas

The next cohort will begin in September 2024.

Applications are now open!

The Eduqas A Level Computer Science qualification is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the key principles and concepts in computer science. The topics covered are:

Programming and System Development

This includes understanding programming languages, data structures, and algorithms, as well as system development methodologies.

Computer Architecture, Data, Communication and Applications

This covers the internal workings of computer systems, data representation, and the principles of communication and networking.

Programmed Solution to a Problem

Students are required to analyse, design, prototype, refine, implement, test, and evaluate a computerised solution to a problem using original code.

Advanced Programming

Building on the AS programming skills to solve more complex problems.

Computing Frameworks

A deeper look into different frameworks used in computing, including databases and web technologies.

Systematic Approach to Problem Solving

An extension of the problem-solving skills learned at AS level, applied to a range of computing problems.

Theory of Computation

Understanding the theoretical foundations of how computation is performed.

The qualification encourages learners to develop an understanding of, and the ability to apply, fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms, and data representation.

It also emphasises the ability to analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including writing programs.
